Somebody Else's Girl

I see you smiling
From across the room
I know you're trying
To catch my eye
And I want you to know
You're a really cute guy

Casually bumping into me
You're sending signals I received in grade school
And you introduce yourself as Steve
I'm pleased to meet you

First you ask me my sign
And then you ask me about my life
"Pisces," is my reply,
"and my life's been fine"

Here go the wheels again
Wondering what I am doing
Friendship can only take us so far
Maybe a little further than your car
And you're offering me the World
But I'm somebody else's girl

You ask to take me out on Friday
You say it's what you really want
But no matter if I say Yes or No
I'm not trying to lead you on

There's a line here that you're crossing
But all can think is go slow
If he doesn't ask the right questions
He'll never know
No, he doesn't have to know

Here go the wheels again
Wondering what I am doing
Friendship can only take us so far
Maybe a little further than your car
And you're offering me the World
But I'm somebody else's girl

If you keep yourself at arm's length
And you don't expect too much
I can't make any promises
I won't do it again

Cause if I've done it before
And you see, you know what I do
And I'm doing it right now
Then won't I do it again with you?

Here go the wheels again
Wondering what I am doing
Friendship can only take us so far
Maybe a little further than your car
And you're offering me the World
But I'm somebody else's girl
